The Welwyn Festival Family Fun Day is held at Singler’s Marsh* every year on the final Saturday of Welwyn Festival Week, following the costume parade through the village at 1pm.
*in the event of flood, it will be re-sited nearby – this has only happened once in recent years!
The afternoon begins with the judging of parade entries, with a group prize and an individual prize for the best fancy dress within the chosen theme. There follows numerous events in the central arena, usually a band, often dance displays, always kids’ races and the traditional tug-o-war! We also hold the Scruffs Dog Show – anyone can enter with their dog on the day for £1 – there are prizes for waggiest tail, fancy dress, dog most like its owner and best puppy.
Typically, the stalls and entertainment around the fields include: coconut shy, plate smash, racing ferrets, bouncy slide, traditional Punch & Judy, pony rides, carousel, face painting, games and competitions, tea tent, beer tent, food tents, ice cream and independent stalls offering local crafts, local produce, bric-a-brac and much more.
Towards the end of the afternoon, the Grand Prize Draw takes place and it all ends with the Duck Race along a section of the Mimram. If you want to book a pitch at Family Fun Day, scroll down past the image gallery to the enquiry form.
