A Visit to an Open Garden
On a fabulous Sunday afternoon, more than 80 visitors experienced the Oasis that keen gardener Christine Thompson with chief hard landscaper, her husband Jim, have created over more than 30 years. A rumour was rife that the “spot the weed” competition had to be cancelled, such was the attention to detail.
After weeks of very dry weather requiring the garden to be watered daily, the owners were rewarded with a stunning display of flowers and vegetables, and all visitors agreed that it could hardly have been in better condition. Supported by friends and family, visitors were kept fed and refreshed with hot and cold drinks, allowing Chris and Jim to (at last) enjoy the garden with their visitors.
The Festival Committee thanks both Chris and Jim for opening their garden during WF Week 2017.
