Planning the 2016 Welwyn Festival
There is a whir of activity in the Welwyn area as we gear up to plan the festivities. This year, the 10 day Welwyn Festival Week starts on Friday 24th June and continues daily through to Sunday 3rd July. Bookmark this website to check for updates!
Planning is the key to the Welwyn Festival Group’s success in recent years. Chaired by Andy Trotter, local volunteers organise WFG events, notably the Street Market, Street Parade and Family Fun Day (plus a few others) and co-ordinate the activities of participants – pubs, art groups, speakers, etc.. Suggested charities and local good causes are discussed and approved to receive a split of the funds raised.
Behind the scenes, the team needs to liaise with a plethora of contacts to arrange road closures, insurance cover, signage, publicity and much, much more.
Last year, we launched this new web site, designed for flexibility to meet our dynamic evolution. We recognise that changing with the times is essential, whilst retaining our traditional village events. This year, we shall increase the useful and timely information on the website, with your feedback and our new volunteers.
