Welwyn 10km and 2km Runs
The Welwyn 10K is back for its fifth year as part of the Welwyn Festival. This scenic road race raises money for the Welwyn Festival Committee’s local projects and charities. The 10k run will start at 11am on Sunday 24th June, during the middle weekend of the Welwyn Festival. The 10km race will follow the usual route, starting at Singlers’ Marsh before passing through Welwyn High Street and meandering up through the beautiful local countryside and then finishing back at Singlers’ Marsh. The race will be chip-timed and is suitable for all standards of runner – though, unfortunately, the undulating countryside means it is not suitable for wheelchairs. There are no entries on the day for the 10km. As this is our fifth year we will have custom medals and t-shirts for all finishers this year.
Unfortunately, this year’s 2k race has had to be postponed due to conditions on the Singlers’ Marsh course. But everyone is encouraged to come and support the 10k run and the 2k is planning to be back in 2019.
The Garden City Runners, who organise the event, make a substantial donation from race revenue to the local projects and charities supported by the Welwyn Festival.
