Corona-virus Update

We are so sorry to announce that the 2020 Welwyn Festival is cancelled due to the Covid 19 outbreak. Although we very much hope that the situation in the UK will have improved enormously by the end of June, nothing is certain, so we have made the difficult decision to cancel all events.

Charities 2020

Unfortunately, we are unable to go ahead with the 2020 events; we did have a provisional list of local charities for this year, but we will be putting these on hold until we are in a position to make new arrangements for the Welwyn Festival. We hope to go ahead as normal in 2021.

Dates for 2021 are Friday 25th June – Sunday 3rd July 2021

The Welwyn Festival was started in 1974. Its main purpose is to bring local people together to enjoy and participate in a wide variety of events and activities to enjoy being part of the community and to support and money for local charities.  Each year the committee work hard to make sure we include as many different activities as we can to generate money for the good causes we support.

In 2019 our charities were:

The Welwyn Centenary Schools Bulb and Tree project
Ware Samaritans
Home Instead Dementia café
Herts Young Homeless
Herts Disabled Cricket
Welwyn Fernery Group
Jubilee House
Herts Air Ambulance
Welwyn Citizens Advice

We also gave further support from the proceeds of the Santa Rounds supporting Herts Young Homeless, The Mixed Group and the Samaritans

In total we gave away £16k – this included a significant contribution from the Welwyn 10K run.

The charities are put forward by the committee, or can contact us directly to ask if we can support them.

If you know of a local group that deserves nominating for extra funds, or are involved in a charity, please get in touch with us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
